Pancakes are a classic breakfast. They are usually fluffy, stacked, and flooded with maple syrup. However, I bet you’ve almost always just eaten plain pancakes, or maybe blueberry or chocolate chip if you’re lucky. However, there are so many options to explore for pancake recipes, like apple pie pancakes.
These pancakes use three different spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves) and grated apple to give you the classic taste of apple pie in your morning breakfast. It makes a mere 8 pancakes, but can easily be doubled if you want more.
If your mouth just started watering after admiring the above picture, then you better get cooking.
Apple Pie Pancakes
Ingredients
Instructions
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt.
In a separate small bowl, mix together the milk, egg, melted and cooled butter, and vanilla extract.
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients all at once and whisk together until all the flour is combined.
Peel and grate enough apples to make 1 cup grated apple (2 small apples for me). Add to the batter and quickly mix together.
Heat a large skillet with about one tablespoon of butter on medium heat.
Drop about 1/4 cup batter on heated skillet and cook for 4 minutes on the first side, or until bubbles start to form and you can easily slide a spatula underneath the whole pancake. Then, flip the pancake and cook for another 2 minutes or so on the other side, or until golden brown. Remove from skillet and repeat until all the batter is used.
