Fruit Salad with Orange-Cinnamon Spiced Tahini Sauce

Updated Published

While apple slices and peanut butter are usually my go-to afternoon snack, sometimes it’s nice to switch it up. Tahini is a paste made from ground sesame seeds that is typically used to give hummus its creamy consistency. However, when you sweeten it up with a bit of honey and orange juice, and drizzle it over an array of fresh fruit, this typically savory ingredient can make for a deliciously sweet snack or even dessert. With high levels of calcium, phosphorus, and B vitamins, you won’t feel guilty when your sauce to fruit ratio gets a little high.

Easy

Prep time: 10 minutes Total time: 10-15 minutes

Servings: 2

Ingredients: For the Fruit Salad (feel free to use any fruit you would like) 1 apple sliced in 1/2 inch pieces 1 kiwi sliced in (1 cm) coins 1 orange sliced into segments Seeds from 1/2 of a pomegranate (cut into segments and loosen seeds in a bowl of water — seeds will sink and white pith will float)

For the Tahini Sauce 1/2 cup tahini 1-2 tablespoon honey Juice from 1 orange 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 4-5 tablesoons water (or as much as necessary for desired consistency)

Directions: 1. Combine prepared fruit into two bowls, coating apples with residual orange juice to prevent browning.
