This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Hofstra chapter.

This year’s Kentucky Derby is set to take place on May 6, 2023. While you might not be able to watch this famous horse race in person, that doesn’t mean you can’t watch it around your television. There’s nothing better than watching the race while enjoying some of your favorite finger foods. Now, people all over the world can have these world-class meals at their homes with Kentucky Derby’s Official At-Home Menu.

Created by Chef Danielson, these five recipes are perfect for race day and all other festive occasions.

1. Sweet Potato Hummus

Grab a snack before you’re off to the races with this unique hummus creation. Sure, you’ve had garlic or roasted red pepper hummus, but this veggie and pita dip has a sweet twist that you and your fellow Kentucky Derby fans will keep coming back to all night long.

2. Grilled Chicken Kabobs with Mint Pistachio Pesto

Fresh mint leaves aren’t just for your rounds of mint juleps. Use it to give a fresh twist to this already delectable grilled chicken. One thing is for sure, everyone will definitely want to eat more than one skewer.

3. Henry Bain Steak Burger Sliders

A true celebration always calls for a huge plate of little sliders. This recipe is made with the special flavor of famous Louisville export Henry Bain Sauce. You may not be able to be in Kentucky, but you can bring the tastes of the state to your table.

4. Southern Style Pimento Mac and Cheese

Pimento cheese is a massively popular bread and cracker spread throughout the South. Why not kick it up a notch and make a full meal by incorporating it into a mac and cheese dish that everyone will absolutely drool over?

5. Brown Butter-Bourbon Crispy Treats

Yes, you can have your bourbon and eat it, too! These elevated crispy treats are sure to pair well with your Woodford Reserve. Your guests will definitely want to take a few of these home with them.
