Just last week I was placed on a Low Fodmap diet by a nutritionist. I am now gluten-free, dairy-free, garlic/onion-free, and I also have limitations on the quantity of particular foods I can eat. With all of these limitations, there is really only one fast food chain that I can count on for good, safe food–Chick-Fil-A.
Chick-Fil-A has always been my favorite fast food restaurant , now it is my only fast food restaurant. If you have a food intolerance, dietary problem or just prefer to follow a specific diet dining out can be hard. There are only so many places you can trust, but thankfully Chick-Fil-A has options for almost every kind of diet, even the most restrictive of diets. Here’s what to eat at Chick-Fil-A, based on your diet.
Gluten-Free: Grilled Chicken Sandwich on a Gluten-Free Bun
Here’s a grilled chicken sandwich on a gluten-free bun with your fave sauce, waffle fries and lemonade. Whether you are gluten free by choice or not, Chick-Fil-A takes a lot of precautions to avoid cross contamination. And you can’t even tell its gluten-free
Lactose-Intolerant: Chick-n-Strips
Being dairy-free and not being able to get milkshakes kills me every time I walk into Chick-Fil-A. However, if you’re lactose-intolerant you can still have most things on the menu. I highly recommend eating enough Chick-In-Strips and Waffle fries until you are fully satisfied.
#Spoon Tip: If you can’t have ANY dairy, then you can still enjoy the grilled chicken nuggets or a salad without the cheese.
Low FODMAP: Grilled Chicken Nuggets
The issue with low fodmap is that it is different for everyone. What you can and cannot eat depends on what your doctor allows. That being said, you can definitely have some grilled chicken nuggets and maybe add a fruit cup. Just make sure to pick out the apples if you need to.
Vegetarian: Vegetarian Wrap
Ask for a vegetarian wrap with black beans, corn, tomato, lettuce and cheese at Chick-Fil-A. It is pretty much a mash-up of the grilled chicken wrap (without the chicken ofc) and the southwest salad. Also remember, you can still enjoy one of Chick-Fil-A’s milkshakes (I recommend cookies and cream, but be to check out the rankings).
Vegan: Spicy Southwest Salad with Chili Lime Vinaigrette
You can ask for any salad to be made vegan by eliminating the chicken and cheese. The southwest salad is still filling and flavorful, as it is full of black beans, corn, and other vegetables.
Everyone: Waffle Fries
One of the best parts about Chick-Fil-A are the waffle fries. Waffle fries are for everyone. They are gluten-free and fried in canola oil, not animal fat.
#SpoonTip: Let the cashier know about any food allergies so your order can be notated with “allergy”. They will change their gloves to help avoid cross continuation but remember, there is still always a risk.
No matter what your dietary restriction is, Chick-Fil-A is there for you. You no longer need to worry packing enough snacks everywhere you go, because as long as you have Chick-Fil-A, you’ll always be safe.
