Everyone loves dessert, period.
Dessert flavored nut butters: I consider myself an expert in the field, so here’s the rundown, before you chow down.
4) Nuts ‘n More Salted Caramel Peanut Butter
Nuts ‘n More has many different flavors of dessert-inspired peanut butters, but out of all the ones I’ve tried, this is by far my favorite. The caramel taste is very strong without being overly sweet. It is also sweetened with xylitol so there is not too much added sugar. My only complaint about this peanut butter would be that it has a slight grainy texture because of the added protein the company puts in. For a 12-ounce jar this peanut butter racks up to $12.
3) Jif Whips – Chocolate Peanut butter
Jif Whips came out a couple years ago and at first, I was a little skeptical. I am a peanut butter snob, so I rarely by any that have added oils and preservative that are unnecessary but an acceptation was made for this PB. After eyeing this flavor for months, I finally decided to give it a try and was not disappointed. This peanut butter is whipped with air giving it a lighter, fluffier texture that spreads so easily on toast, pancakes, waffles — you name it. The chocolate flavor is strong and perfectly sweet. Since its whipped with air it also has less calories and fat then a normal serving of peanut butter, giving you an excuse to have an extra spoon full. The price cannot be beat, racking up to only around $2.75 for a 12oz container.
2) Justin’s — Maple Almond Butter
This is the first Justin’s product I ever tried, and has always been my favorite. Justin’s adds only 5 ingredients, roasted almonds, maple sugar, palm fruit oil (sustainably sourced) and sea salt. With such few ingredients Justin’s still manages to create so much flavor, without being overly sweet. When spread on toast it tastes like I am eating a maple cookie. The only downside to this almond butter is that it is a little pricey, being around $12 per 16oz jar.
1) Vanilla Espresso Barney Almond Butter
Once you buy this almond butter, you will be addicted. I cannot express in words how delicious this product is. When you open the jar, it smells like you are walking into a bakery. This nut butter can be used on anything from toast, yogurt and my personal favorite, straight from the jar. Another great thing about Barney Butter is that it’s a Natural product that does not need stirred. A small 8 oz jar racks up to be around $7, but it 100% worth every penny.
Yes, I’m aware that when you want dessert, you would most likely reach for a piece of cake or a cookie. But next time your craving something sweet, try picking up one of these nut butters and you won’t be disappointed, I promise.
