Clif Bars were created in 1986, and since then we’ve been gifted with flavors from Peanut Toffee Buzz to Berry Pomegranate Chia. Just when I thought I’d seen it all, including limited-edition Holiday Flavors, Clif Bar stepped up their game once again. Recently, they announced a new line of nut butter filled snack bars! I used to just dip my Clif Bars in peanut butter, but now my prayers have truly been answered. After contacting a wonderful woman at the company, my mom and I received our set of all four bars. Here’s what we thought:
4. Coconut Almond Butter
Our least favorite of the four was the coconut almond butter filling, but don’t let that scare you away. This bar was amazing and reminded me of the inside of an almond joy. My mom commented that the coconut flavor brought back fond memories of Somoa Girl Scout Cookies, and who doesn’t love those? What was so crazy was that you could even sense the texture of the real coconut in the bar!
3. Chocolate Peanut Butter
The chocolate peanut butter flavor reminded me of the chocolate brownie Clif Bar wrapped around a peanut-buttery filling. The semi-sweet chocolate flavor was delicious but ended up overpowering the peanut butter just a little too much. While this bar was fantastic, it ranked low on our list due to the fact that we were expecting more of a Reese’s Peanut Butter type flavor. That’s a little bit of wishful thinking, though, and it doesn’t help that I’m a peanut butter addict! If I added another dollop of peanut butter this would be the perfect snack.
2. Hazelnut Chocolate
So when I dove into this one, I was expecting Nutella, but ended up being pleasantly surprised. The filling tasted like a glorious maple syrup truffle and we loved it! The flavors brought us back to making chocolate chip pancakes on a Sunday morning and drenching them with syrup. While it was pretty sweet, I think I’d easily be able to devour a whole bar.
1. Peanut Butter
As mentioned earlier, I’m a tad obsessed with anything peanut butter so it’s no surprise that good old fashioned peanut butter ended up at the top of my list. The flavor reminded me of a Nutter Butter cookie and the texture was delightful. Similar to crunchy peanut butter, the filling stuck slightly to the roof of my mouth, guaranteeing that this was the real deal.
In the end, all bars proved to be delicious. The fillings of each were so much creamier than I could’ve hoped for and I enjoyed every bite. I highly recommend that you give these a try and pick them up from your local Vitamin Shoppe, Target, Walmart, or any other place where Clif Bars are sold. Whether you’re craving a granola bar or spoonful of nut butter, these Clif Bars combine the best of both worlds.
