You’ve heard of Julius Caesar: politician, general, dictator, his brutal assassination — a man whose tales are told for centuries and name shall echo throughout history. Want to be as poetic as that line you just read? Have a glass of my Caesar and you’ll be good for the night. What is a Bloody Caesar, exactly? Is it just some cheap knockoff of the Bloody Marry for countries without a sustainable source of fresh tomatoes? Maybe. But the key difference is that the Caesar is made with Clamato (tomato juice mixed with spices and clam broth) instead of fresh tomato juice. This makes the drink notably more fragrant and savory than its sister. We will be making our Caesar with Reposado Tequila instead of vodka for its herbaceous and fragrant flavor. So, grab your favorite hot sauce and any garnish you can think of. It’s going to get hot in here.
Before you do it
Caesars are famous for its versatility and compatibility. What does that mean, exactly you ask? Well, it means you can use any of your favorite brands for all the ingredients. Prefer Frank’s Red Hot over Tabasco? Go right ahead. Want to use an entire bacon cheeseburger for garnish? What’s stopping you? Go ahead — get wild, make this fun, and make this your Caesar. If this is your first time making one and not sure exactly what to use, my personal favorite combination is classic Tabasco sauce with just an olive for garnish.
