South Bend, Indiana is home to countless restaurants that are good for the soul…and the tastebuds. Eddy Street Commons is a hotspot of activity, places to shop, and best of all, tempting places to grab a bite to eat. Whether you’re craving something sweet or salty, they’ve got you covered.
1.) McAlister’s Deli
McAlister’s knows how to provide options that everyone can enjoy, from fresh sandwiches to hot soup to loaded nachos. It’s reasonably cheap, too, so you won’t have to break open that piggy bank. The atmosphere is always calm, relaxing, allowing you to take a moment to chill. Plus, can we just take a minute to appreciate the strawberry lemonade they offer? YUM.
2. Chipotle
Okay, we had to include this one, because “Chipotle is my lifeeee” (queue the vine). Perhaps the most popular choice on Eddy Street, it’s a classic – oh-so good and fast, too. What’s better than a made to order bowl or burrito the size of your head? Best of all, it doesn’t burn a hole in your “I’m a poor college student” pocket. (Especially on Halloween, when a burrito or a bowl is only $3. How cool is that? You guys rock.)
3. Blaze Pizza
Blaze is open until 4 A.M. on Fridays and Saturdays to cater to the college students. They’ve got your back, no matter what time you want that fire-made, fresh pizza. It’s got so many different options, so whether you’re going for a classic choice or a create-your-own, your tastebuds will be begging for more.
4. Kilwins
Kilwins is a must on this list; come on, it’s legendary. It doesn’t matter if it’s 80 degrees or a blizzard has just come through, you can never go wrong with a sweet cone and two scoops of your favorite frozen flavor. Sometimes you have to eat dessert first, right?
5. Five Guys
Five Guys is wonderful if you just want some good comfort food. Broke up with your SO? Bombed an exam you thought you rocked? This is the place to go. They produce massive burgers with any and all toppings you could think of, and their milkshakes are to die for.
Eddy Street sure knows how to entice us college kids. When you’ve finally had enough of that dining hall food (no matter how good the fresh-baked cookies may be), take a stroll over to this part of South Bend and spend a little extra on dinner. You deserve it.
