Blueberry Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies That Are Even Better Than Grandma’s

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at CSU chapter.

Oatmeal cookies have always been a love of mine. Something about the soft, chewy, brown-sugary goodness keeps us in a long-distance relationship that makes me feel guilty even enjoying other cookies. I decided to take my craving into my own hands and recreate the fabulous oatmeal cookie I have always prized. This blueberry chocolate chip oatmeal cookie recipe is an adaptation of a traditional oatmeal cookie, but tastes just as good.

Try walnuts or pecans for more variation, or feel free to leave out any of the add-ins if you desire the more traditional route. Either way, be sure not to overcook these to ensure the savored chewiness of every perfect cookie. Bon appétit!

Instructions

  1. Brooke Buchan

Soften butter naturally or with two 10-second intervals in the microwave, being careful to rotate the butter after the first ten seconds to avoid melting it completely.

  2. Brooke Buchan

Combine softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar in a bowl together and mash with a fork, mixer, or if you’re feeling totally savage, clean hands will do the job as well.

  3. Brooke Buchan

Make sure to beat in one egg at a time until smooth and then add vanilla.

  4. Brooke Buchan

In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt, chocolate chips, blueberry craisins, and cinnamon together.

  5. Brooke Buchan

Combine this dry mixture with your wet mixture and mix until everything is deliciously creamy.

  6. Brooke Buchan

Combine the oats with the creamy mixture one cup at a time to avoid a total oat takeover.

  7. Brooke Buchan

Preheat oven to 350° F and make sure to grease those cookie sheets real good. No one wants cookies that won’t come off the pan.

  8. Brooke Buchan

Form dough into any shape you desire.

  9. Flatten each cookie with a fork to give it that crunchy, cracked look when it’s done cooking.

  10. Put those suckers in the oven for 8–10 minutes or until they appear to start to brown. To test if the inside of the cookie is cooked, take a toothpick and without burning any part of your body, insert it into the middle of a cookie and remove. If it comes out clean, your cookies are finished. If not, give them a few more minutes.

  11. Brooke Buchan

Wait until cookies have cooled to enjoy them.

There you have it! Oatmeal cookies that will make grandma jealous. Make sure to share with friends so they can experience the awesomeness as well, or keep them for yourself. I don’t blame you, they’re that good.
