We’ve all been there: craving a burrito from Chipotle but have no time between our classes and nightly meetings to go pick one up. The solution? Make one yourself using a college must-have—the time saving Crock-Pot. Give yourself just 10 minutes in the morning to prepare the core of the meal, let it cook for 6-8 hours while you are out and about, and then come back at night and enjoy your hot, homemade burrito.
A Crock-Pot, also known as a slow cooker, can be set to take a certain number of hours to cook your food. Different times are recommended based on the recipe, but regardless, the Crock-Pot will make sure your food is cooked just right. No more stopping by your apartment to take your steak out of the oven – the Crock-Pot doesn’t require any checking back. Just prepare in the morning, go about your day, and come home to a great meal.
Not only does the Crock-Pot save you valuable weeknight hours, but cooking at home also gives you the chance to customize your burrito and substitute healthier options for the commercially produced beef and chicken you would normally find at restaurants. One simple Crock-Pot takes care of two of college students’ biggest troubles with food: time to cook and ways to eat healthy.
