How to Make Your Own Dried Fruit Using Just an Oven

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at UGA chapter.

Busy college schedules mean on-the-go snacks are pantry staples. While those needs can be fulfilled at Trader Joe’s (that DIY trail mix section with dried fruit and nuts galore is heavenly), sometimes our bank accounts call for a different option. Enter oven-dried fruit. The prep time is minuscule—you don’t even have to touch it for a few hours. You can make a giant batch of dried fruit ahead of time, and its portability is off the charts.

Plus, dried fruit is versatile. Snack on it plain, throw it in some yogurt (my favorite), or use it in these homemade trail mix recipes.

Lexi is studying journalism and music business at the University of Georgia and will graduate in 2018. Her love language is food (especially cereal), and she’s not afraid to make a mess or two in the kitchen. Tortilla chips, sweet potato fries, pumpkin bread, and pretty much any other carb (she doesn’t discriminate) make her foodie world go round. Consuming raw fish and meat gives her anxiety.
