This Gin and Lime Cocktail Will Make You Forget About Tequila

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at UVA chapter.

The other night I was drinking at a college friend’s house when her older brother asked me to take a sip of a new cocktail he had thrown together in the kitchen. Given his reputation for creatively concocted cocktail originals, I said “why not?” and gave it a sip. I was amazed.

This refreshingly limey drink was named after one of the tallest species of cactus in the U.S., the Saguaro, for the drink’s inclusion of agave and its slightly greenish tinge. However, the creator’s most clever reason for the name resides in the prickly and painful reminder the drinker will encounter if they forget each drink contains a shockingly undetectable two shots of gin.
