Ohio has brought many gifts to the world, including seven U.S. Presidents, Neil Armstrong, Cornhenge, and the chocolate and peanut butter dessert, buckeyes. Buckeyes are made from a peanut butter fudge partially dipped in chocolate. The end result looks like the nut from the Ohio buckeye tree.
This recipe is easy to make at home and uses only 3 ingredients. They’re very portable, so if you need a treat for a bake sale or if you’re hosting a party, these are sure to be a hit. No one will ever know you only used peanut butter, vanilla frosting, and chocolate chips.
Easy Peanut Butter Buckeyes
Ingredients
Instructions
Combine the frosting and peanut butter in a medium-sized bowl. Chill for 10-15 minutes.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper (if you don’t have any, cling wrap is fine). Scoop out 1 Tbsp of dough into your hand, roll it into a ball, and place it on the baking sheet. Repeat until there are 20-25 buckeyes. Freeze for 30 minutes.
In a microwave safe bowl, add the dark chocolate. Microwave for 30 seconds, stir, and repeat, gradually decreasing the amount of microwave time until fully melted.
Dip the peanut butter balls in the chocolate and roll them around until they resemble and Ohio buckeye nut.
#SpoonTip: A fork makes this a much easier process.
Place the buckeyes back on the baking sheet after dipping and freeze for 10-15 minutes to finish setting the chocolate.
Remove from the freezer and enjoy THE Ohio Peanut Butter Buckeyes.
