This Home-Brewed Tea Uses an Underrated Superfood

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at SCU chapter.

Chaga mushrooms have some of the best natural antioxidants and anti-cancer properties you can find. But this ugly fungi is no good on salad. You can buy pre-packaged Chaga tea online, but isn’t it more fun to make things yourself? Try this recipe to make your own home-brew.

Chaga Mushroom Tea

Difficulty:BeginnerPrep time: 5 minutesCook time: 30 minutesTotal time: 1 minuteServings:4 servings

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Pour cold, filtered water into a pot with one one fist sized mushroom chunk and bring to a roaring boil .

  2. Once the water has started boiling, reduce the heat and let simmer for 20 minutes to 4 hours. Simmer time depends of preference for strength.

#SpoonTip: I recommend boiling for 1-4 hours to get the most of the Chaga, you can always add more water later if it’s too strong.
