18 Sweet and Savory Snacks You Can Make With Crescent Rolls

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Union chapter.

Crescent rolls are always a favorite for all ages, but what if we take that dough and make something even more amazing? These recipes are melt-in-your-mouth delicious and are easy to make for a large party, your family, or even just for yourself (yes, that is #spoonapproved). The hardest part about these recipes is getting the crescent roll container open (please tell me I’m not the only one who struggles).

Savory

1. Mini Pork Buns

I bet if you saw these somewhere, you wouldn’t ever guess they were made from crescent roll dough. These are a perfect hors d’oeuvre, and yes, they are that fancy. Who knew making dim sum could be that easy?

2. Pizza Rolls

Because why not make America’s favorite food even better? While they may just seem like fancy Hot Pockets, they really are much more, I can promise you that.

3. Bacon Jalapeno Cream Cheese Rolls

These are definitely more savory than sweet, but equally as delicious. What part of bacon, cream cheese, jalapeño, and crescent rolls is there not to like? These are fun to make and a great game day (or any day) treat.

4. Pigs in a Blanket

The no-brainer appetizer. Most people don’t realize that using crescent rolls for these piggies is the way to go. Even though the Superbowl is behind us, these are still a must for any party you host.

5. Egg, Bacon, Cheese and Avocado Brunch Ring

Don’t be intimidated by the look of this; it’s definitely worth it. If you think brunch couldn’t get any better, you are mistaken. I’ve made a ton of these and they’re a super fun way to change it up from the usual breakfast sandwich.

6. Thanksgiving Crescent Rolls

Everyone knows that Thanksgiving food is the best, but it’s what you do with the leftovers that makes the holiday that much better. On most holidays, you are bound to have leftovers, so why not turn them into something that tastes arguably better than the holiday dinner itself?

Sweet

7. Pumpkin Spice Crescent Rolls

These might sound “basic,” but the taste is far from it. They take less than half an hour to make and who doesn’t love sugary goodness rolled up in a buttery dough? The caramel dipping sauce adds a decadent (and absolutely mouthwatering) touch to make this a perfect fall-themed dessert that can be eaten year round.

8. Nutella Rolls

If you don’t like Nutella, then I probably don’t trust you as a person. These put Nutella on toast to shame.

9. Brie, Apple & Pecan Rolls

These might seem too fancy to make, but they’re honestly an extremely easy snack to whip up. These are good for when you’re trying to impress people with your baking skills or need a sweet treat. And since they have apple in them, they’re obviously really good for you.

10. Apple Pie Crescent Rolls

If you’re not into Brie or nuts, or just want a simpler version of the American staple, try these out. Easy and portable, it takes the mess out of Grandma’s apple pie.

11. Heart Attack Rolls

Don’t let the name scare you. Marshmallows wrapped in a crescent roll and then doused with butter and cinnamon sugar is far from scary. While your arteries might not thank you, your taste buds definitely will.

12. Kit Kat Croissants

Yearly leftover Halloween candy doesn’t need to be wasted. You can put a kit kat (or any chocolate candy bar for that matter) in a crescent roll and it’ll amp up your dessert game in no time.

13. Apricot Challah

Oy vey, this one is definitely a must. Apricot and cream cheese are a perfect pair. Think of it like jam or cream cheese on some bread, but with a little more oomph.

14. Raspberry Jam Pop-Tart

Why just have a boring ol’ Pop-Tart when you can make them yourself? These don’t have to be made with raspberry, any jam works. This is a definite must for those not fully satisfied with the skimpy amount of jam that store-bought pastries give you.

15. Classic Cinnamon Rolls

We have these every year at my Christmas dinner.  Let me tell you, they are the first thing everyone reaches for. Just the right amount of sweetness, these buttery rolls are a perfect end to any heavy meal because you can never have too many rich foods in one sitting, right?

16. Pumpkin Butter Pecan Gingersnap Rolls

With this new fad of different “butters” (cookie butter, almond butter, cashew butter, the list goes on) it’s no wonder that a crescent roll recipe would include one of them. If you haven’t tried pumpkin butter though, you better get on it. What better way to try it out than in a buttery sweet gingersnap roll?

17. Puff Pastry Wrapped Baked Brie

Officially THE best cheese dip out there. Brie + raspberry jam + maple syrup + crescent roll dough = amazing baked brie. Can I please have this now?

18. Sticky Maple Crescent Buns

Even though your taste buds might go into absolute sugar shock, it is definitely worth it with this dessert. You might have to grab more than a couple napkins. Best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and you’ve got the perfect sweet treat.

So fire up that oven for foolproof crowd pleasers, because these bomb recipes will have you putting God-only-knows-what in crescent rolls sooner than later.

If you like hummus and/or poptarts, let's be friends.
