This Frozen Matcha Green Tea Smoothie is the Best Way to Start Your Morning

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at MSU chapter.

Green smoothies are perfect to avoid those painfully embarrassing stomach growls during finals. Bored of the usual spinach, I tried out a frozen matcha green tea flavor – and oh my, it turned out HEAVENLY.

Creamy, thick, and containing the perfect amount of sweetness, I could’ve consumed 3 glasses (or more)…But the best part is that matcha, the powdered form of green tea, has as many as TEN times the antioxidants of regular, brewed green tea. And antioxidants reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, and has many more benefits – what’s not to love?

For only a few dollars at Trader Joe’s or Amazon, this tasty recipe uses matcha green tea mix, which is a little sweeter than the traditional, bitter matcha. It already has some powdered milk inside, which is why it’s a staple for lazy mornings, aka every morning.
