The Ice Cream Bar Croissant Is TikTok’s New Sweet Treat

Who doesn’t love a croissant? It goes well with anything, can be eaten for any meal, and comes in countless variations — cookie dough, ice cream, Nutella, fruit, just to name a few. But as always, TikTok has come in and added its own twist to the list with the ice cream bar croissant.

This trend has been all over TikTok for over a week, with influencers putting their own spin on it, but the result is still the same: a sweet treat.

What is the ice cream bar croissant trend?

The earliest iteration of this trend is from a Thai content creator @farmiscooking. In the video, she uses a shio pan, or a salt and butter roll, and a classic Magnum chocolate ice cream bar. She inserts the ice cream bar into the shio pan and takes a bite.

From there, German influencer Anna Antoje used this video as inspiration and added her own spin, which has become the norm all over TikTok. In the video posted on July 20, she used croissants and Magnum chocolate almond ice cream bar. She hollowed out the croissant and inserted the ice cream bar, removed the stick, and enjoyed the new invention. Some called this trend a great idea, and others questioned how someone could eat this. Antoje’s video received a comment from the Magnum Ice Cream account itself saying “Invention Of The Summer.”

How do I recreate this at home?

Grab a croissant and your choice of ice cream bar. Hollow out the croissant and put the ice cream bar inside. For better results, you can put the croissant in the air fryer or in the pan for a crispy exterior. On TikTok, a Magnum ice cream bar is the most used for this trend. But the best thing about this is you can customize it with your favorite chocolate ice cream bar. Whether it be a Dubai-style chocolate bar, chocolate almond bar, chocolate bar, white chocolate, or peppermint.

You can add chocolate, sprinkles, or candy outside the croissant, or if you need inspiration, there are many influencers online giving their own twist on this trend. Some use ice cream cones instead of bars. Others cut the croissant in half to make it a traditional sandwich. Honestly, there’s no wrong way to do this, so have fun and enjoy it.

What has the response been online?

People online have called it a 10 out of 10. TikToker @Hungry4Munchies compares it to an expensive and exquisite dessert from a nice restaurant. Influencer Stefan Johnson said it’s “a dessert pastry where the chocolate and the ice cream have enough sweetness to carry over to the buttery and flaky croissant.”

Other influencers also put their own twist on the trend. Creator @trinhdoesthings used a churro croissant with a double caramel Magnum ice cream bar, and many comments celebrated this combination. Costco croissants with mini Dubai-style Magnum chocolate bars were creator @ShoPhoCho’s take, whereas Influencer @Nico used New York strawberry cheesecake ice cream bars, and @spotsbyjp used an ice cream sargent sundae, a vanilla chocolate-dipped cone, and a second one using a peanut ice cream cone.
