Krispy Kreme Is Releasing Pop-Tarts Doughnuts & They’re Nostalgic AF

Ah, Pop-Tarts. A beloved breakfast or snack, these toaster pastries feature crumbly and delightfully bland pastry dough packed with sweet filling and nostalgia, topped with royal icing and rainbow sprinkles. Pop-Tarts were a rarity in my house, yet nothing screams childhood quite like that aluminum foil wrapper packed with two pastries just begging to be toasted to warm, gooey perfection. But now, Pop-Tarts aren’t just for the toaster: Krispy Kreme is combining their iconic doughnuts with the beloved flavors of the toaster pastry in a new collection of Pop-Tarts doughnuts.

Today, Krispy Kreme announced its first-ever partnership with Pop-Tarts and unveiled the Krispy Kreme x Pop-Tarts Crazy Good Doughnuts Collection. The collection, which will feature three brand-new doughnuts inspired by fan-favorite Pop-Tarts flavors, will be available for a limited time beginning January 6.

What are the new Krispy Kreme Pop-Tarts doughnut flavors?

Beginning today for a limited time at participating shops nationwide, Krispy Kreme is poppin’ off the new year with three insanely tasty new doughnuts inspired by a few of the iconic toaster pastry’s signature flavors: Frosted Strawberry, Frosted Chocolatey Fudge, and Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon.

First, the Krispy Kreme Pop-Tarts Frosted Strawberry Doughnut features an unglazed shell doughnut filled with strawberry filling and dipped in shortbread icing for the signature pastry taste. Just like the classic strawberry Pop-Tart, the unglazed doughnut is topped with sugar sprinkles, strawberry filling drizzle, shortbread pieces, and a mini Frosted Strawberry Pop-Tarts Bite.

If you, like me, prefer chocolate over strawberry, the Pop-Tarts Frosted Chocolatey Fudge Doughnut features a Krispy Kreme Original Glazed Doughnut, which is then dipped in chocolate icing. For an extra boost of fudge flavor, the doughnut is topped with brownie batter flavored buttercream and crushed Frosted Chocolatey Fudge Pop-Tarts Bites, and sprinkled with white nonpareils.

Last but not least, the nostalgic Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop-Tart is getting a Krispy Kreme upgrade, too. (Hot take: I think this Pop-Tart flavor is incredibly overrated, but I know I am in the minority.) The Pop-Tarts Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon Doughnut features a cinnamon sugar doughnut topped with brown sugar cinnamon cream cheese-flavored buttercream. Like the other doughnuts in the collection, this one is also topped with a Frosted Cinnamon Roll Pop-Tarts Bites piece.
