11 Weird Pizzas You’ll Have to Fly to Asia for

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Rangsit chapter.

Pizza is one of those things that changes based on the people it’s being cooked for. The Italians do it one way and New Yorkers do it another. You can have it plain, with artichokes and olives, or covered in pepperoni. But the universal truth when it comes to pizza is that it’s tasty—at least most of the time. Here are 11 weird pizzas you’d have to fly to Asia for.

The Super Hawaiian

I’m not sure what makes this pizza “super” (or Hawaiian), but if throwing shrimp, hot dogs and pineapple on a cheese pizza wasn’t offensive enough, they decided to make it even worse by covering it in mayonnaise. I’ll pass, thanks.

Where to find it: Dominos in Thailand

Shrimp Cocktail

Weird, right? Shrimp cocktail pizza comes with mushrooms, mozzarella, pineapples, prawns, and worst of all—Thousand Island dressing. How about we keep seafood, salad dressing, and pizza separate…is that too much to ask?

Where to find it: The Pizza Company in Thailand

The Seafood Extreme

It’s like the ocean threw up on a piece of dough. This pizza has a seafood sauce base, topped with prawns, squid, clams and mussels. Even a mermaid wouldn’t touch this.

Where to find it: Pizza Hut in Thailand

Teriyaki Chicken

This pizza sounds normal with toppings such as teriyaki chicken, cheese, onions, mushrooms—then things get a bit strange. Corn is added with a seaweed mayonnaise. Come on guys, do less.

Where to find it: Pizza-La in Japan

Wagyu & Bistecca

I actually want try this one. It uses both Italian and Australian beef and is topped with five different kinds of cheese. It’s like a fancy version of a meat-eaters pizza.

Where to find it: Dominos in Japan

The Sweet Piece

Alright, we get it, sweet potatoes are in this year, but that doesn’t mean they belong on pizza. This strange concoction combines the aforementioned root vegetable with cranberries, pineapples, almonds and streusel—no thanks.

Where to find it: Mr. Pizza in Korea

Snowing Shrimp

This pizza is probably one of the weirdest on this list. It comes with fresh greens, prawns, mayonnaise, and coconut flake “snow”. I’m getting shivers just thinking about it.

Where to find it: Mr. Pizza in Korea

Kimchi Pork

In comparison to some of the other things on this list, this Korean-inspired pizza is pretty tame. The spicy and sour kimchi is complemented by the sweetness of the pulled pork and I can honestly say I’d try it.

Where to find it: Pizza Hut in Taiwan

The Tuna Delight

Fish has no place on pizza, especially if it comes from a can. This pizza also comes with pepperoni, ham, Italian sausage and corn— if only they’d stopped there.

Where to find it: Dominos in China

American Bacon Cheeseburger

This pizza starts with some pretty basic stuff—mozzarella, tomatoes, onions, ground beef, bacon. But then things take a turn for the worst when ketchup, mayonnaise, and nacho cheese show up. That’s some heavy lifting.

Where to find it: Dominos in China

Curry Chicken

Inspired by India, this pizza is topped with chicken, onions, potatoes, tomatoes, and a spicy curry sauce. It’s like curry with naan—sign me up.

Where to find it: Pizza Hut in Singapore
