  • Step 1

Once you’ve got a surface with a bit of flour, roll your pie dough into a rectangle. Even if it looks more like an amoeba, it should be around 9×12 inches.

  • Step 2

Cut your nifty rectangle into 9 smaller pieces. Put ’em on a tray with parchment paper and refrigerate for 20 minutes. Now, do all the stuff you’ve done so far again with another pie dough roll.

  • Step 3

Mix an egg with 2 tsp milk to make an “egg wash” to wipe on one of the sets of rectangles. Then spread whatever filling you want onto your pastries!

  • Step 4

Take the rectangles with no filling and layer them over the rectangles with filling. Use a fork to seal the edges. Look kind of Pop Tart-ish already don’t they?

  • Step 5

Bake for 10-15 minutes at 350F, turn your pan in the oven, and bake another 10 minutes so it’s all nice and even.

  • Step 6

While your pastries are baking, mix 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp vanilla extract, and 1 tbsp milk in with 3/4 cup of sifted confectioner’s sugar. Then whisk for 30 seconds to make your delicious icing glaze!

Let the Pop Tarts chill out for a couple minutes, then use a spoon to spread your icing on the top. Voila! Your very own piece of heaven.
