So, what’s the secret to the perfect muffin, you ask? The answer is tahini. Yep, you heard us—that same, sesame-based ingredient that makes your hummus so addicting is exactly what’s about to take your next batch of muffins to a whole new level—trust us, we sampled them.
This secret ingredient comes from a new, ingenious company called Soom Foods. They’ve got traditional tahini, a sesame chocolate spread (think Nutella, but better) and 4 different kinds of dips.
Side note: the dips taste great with Fritos or tortilla chips. The Spoon team loved all four flavors, but the winners were the Zesty Mediterranean and Curry flavors.
As for the muffins, Spoon GW put Soom’s tahini to the test and baked ourselves a batch of muffins from scratch. The results were astounding. We present the best, most moist (sorry we had to) muffins you’ll ever taste. The greatest news of all? They can be considered “healthy”, since they’ve got apple, carrot and coconut in them.

If chocolate is more your thing, try replacing Nutella in this chocolate mug cake with Soom’s chocolate spread—we tried this recipe, too, and the results were insane. Not a dessert fan? Whip up a savory cold sesame noodle salad using Soom’s products. You can order Soom tahini here.
