Busy college schedules mean on-the-go snacks are pantry staples. While those needs can be fulfilled at Trader Joe's (that DIY trail mix section with dried fruit and nuts galore is heavenly), sometimes our bank accounts call for a different option. Enter oven-dried fruit. The prep time is minuscule—you don't even have to touch it for a few hours. You can make a giant batch of dried fruit ahead of time, and its portability is off the charts.

Plus, dried fruit is versatile. Snack on it plain, throw it in some yogurt (my favorite), or use it in these homemade trail mix recipes.

Bake at 200ºF for 3-5 hours or until you reach desired consistency. The juicier and thicker the fruit, the longer it will take.
