Pumpkin spice has become so hyped up over the last few years that we’ve almost forgotten the original fall favorite: apple cider. Apple cider started the warm, spiced drinks trend and is much more versatile than pumpkin spice.
On a whim, I exchanged my water for apple cider when making my morning oatmeal, and it was the best decision I’ve made in a long time. So set aside that PSL for a moment and make this delicious apple cider oatmeal instead; it’ll leave you wondering why you ever became a pumpkin spice convert.
Apple Cider Oatmeal
- Prep Time:5 minutes
- Cook Time:5-7 minutes
- Total Time:10 minutes
- 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup apple cider
- 1 small apple
- 1 pinch cinnamon
Skin and finely chop the apple into small chunks.
Add the chopped apple, oats, milk, and apple cider into the pot. Cook on medium heat for about 5-7 minutes, until the liquid is completely absorbed.
Remove your delicious oatmeal from the stove and top with leftover apple chunks and cinnamon as garnish.
