Salt & Straw, a Portland-based artisanal ice cream company, is coming to San Francisco in spring 2017.
This means we can all get a taste of that ice cream Vice President Joe Biden loves.
Salt & Straw is known for its unique ice cream flavors, such as Arbequina olive oil, strawberry honey balsamic vinegar with black pepper, and black olive brittle & goat cheese, though Vice President Biden is keeping it classic with double-fold vanilla.
In addition to selling Salt & Straw classics, owners Kim and Tyler Malek plan on creating new flavors that represent San Francisco's food scene.
Salt & Straw will be replacing Evolution Fresh at 2201 Fillmore St. They are also planning on opening a second store in Hayes Valley.
I can't wait for Salt & Straw to open just across the Bay. I visited Portland this past summer and got a cup of their coffee and bourbon ice cream. Once I finished, I went back in line to get a pint and ate most of it that night.
Yeah, it's that good.
