It is so important to take care of your skin. Whether your skin is flawless or not, prevention is key. Since I was in middle school, I have struggled with acne and inflammation. I am now 19-years-old and am confident that I have the basics down. I have tried a ton of products and these are what works best for me. I do still get hormonal breakouts, but my skin has improved greatly from these products listed below. Here are five of my best skincare secrets for clear skin.

1. Cleanser

I swear by this cleanser. It is gentle enough to use morning and night, so no need to buy two different products. It has no scent, which is perfect for sensitive skin like mine. My face differs from dry to oily and Cetaphil always does the trick. The formula is designed to remove dirt, makeup, and any impurities. I love to wash my face twice; once to remove makeup, then second to remove dirt and excess from the day. After washing my face it feels tight, like a mini face lift. So, I always apply a moisturizer and follow with my normal makeup routine.

2. Moisturizer

I've learned, from reading many blogs, that using moisturizer, whether you have dry or oily skin, is crucial to having perfect skin. Every skin type needs the moisture. Most people who have oily skin think they shouldn't use moisturizer, however, when people who have oily skin don't use moisturizer it makes their skin produce more oil. My skin drinks these two products which make my face glow and gives it a nice prep for makeup. These two products pictured above are so hydrating and thick. First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream is thicker, so I recommend this product for night time; it retails for $30. The Cetaphil cream has a similar consistency, but it soaks into the skin faster and doesn't leave your skin feeling oily. It is also much cheaper and can be found at your closest drug store along with the facial cleanser.

3. Facial Sprays

I have tried many facial sprays, from micellar water to spray toners. Mario Badescu has created the best one yet. This spray smells like roses and feels so refreshing. I use this product after the shower as a hydration spray. It also works great on a cotton pad to remove makeup. It comes in a small or large size. The small size is perfect for on the go on a hot summer day to refresh your face. My favorite way is to spray it on a beauty blender to help mix foundation. The spray makes my skin look perfectly airbrushed. The best place to buy Mario Badescu products is at Urban Outfitters.

4. Spot Treatment

I have tried many spot treatments. Whether they come from Target or my dermatologist, I have literally tried everything. These three work the best and overnight. Epiduo Forte is perfect to put all over the face once a day. La Roche-Posay Dual Action Acne Treatment can be used morning and night. Proactive Plus Emergency Blemish Relief is perfect to carry on the go if you feel a zit coming through. All of these spot treatments including Benzoyl Peroxide work great on my skin. All these products are just an online order away.

5. Foundation

Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation, Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation, and Makeup Forever Ultra HD are simply the greatest foundations. I use all these foundations for different occasions. Chanel is great for any everyday look. It is very light and applies onto the skin effortlessly. The foundation retails for $50. Makeup Forever HD is great for a nicer occasion. It literally stays on all day. It is full coverage but doesn't get cakey and my dermatologist recommended it to me too! This product retails for $43. Tarte Amazonian Clay foundation is by far the heaviest but the product does not budge. I use it when I have larger problem areas as a concealer because it is made of clay. It erases any problem areas without making you break out more. This product retails for $39. Both the Tarte foundation and Makeup Forever HD is sold at Sephora. I bought my Chanel foundation from Saks Fifth Avenue. I know these products are expensive but it's the price you have to pay to look and feel your best!

This routine is prime and I would suggest it to anyone looking for skincare secrets for clear skin. If you are on the market for new products and results hit up Sephora, Saks, and Target.
