Before spring break this year, students across campus were more than ready to escape the stress of college life and go back home. I mean, completely understandable right? The best part of going home from school is the food, and the Spoon team at Emory could not wait any longer to have some of the greatest favorite hometown favs from across the country.
To fit with February’s theme of travel, the Spoon team at Emory decided to satisfy students cravings for food not from the dining hall, and put together Eat Your Way Across the U.S.A! Emory students were invited to experience an unlimited dinner and dessert buffet consisting of the best foods from across America—no transportation needed. Students could cross state boundaries simply by walking from table to table. Always envious of those stacked New York bagels you see on your instagram feed? Dying to see if deep dish pizza really is worth all the hype? Not only did students get to eat some of the foods they were seriously craving from back home, but they also got to experience food from places they had never been and always wanted to try.
The Spoon Emory team choose famous favorite foods from cities all across the country to be represented at the event. New York City bagels, Chicago deep dish pizza, Cincinnati killer brownies, L.A fresh pressed juices, and Boston creme pie doughnuts all made a standout appearance. Fan favorites included the Kentucky fried chicken, “It has a great texture,” and Chicago deep dish pizza, “Its like a pizza pie!”
The turnout for the event was spectacular, and everyone who came had an awesome time mingling and trying all the different foods. One enthusiastic student described Eat Your Way Across the U.S.A as: “A great time with good energy and lots of laughter.” We could not agree more.
