Almost all Wake students have stopped by the pizza hangout on campus called Zick’s. Zick’s is the perfect place to sit around in comfortable chairs, watch sports, play pool, and of course, get a bite to eat. Everyone is attracted to their pizzas, wings, wine and beer, and this semester they have definitely stepped up their game with a new menu. Whether you are treating yourself to a nice lunch or stumbling home from a night on the town (before 2 a.m.), Zick’s has got the comfort food you need.

While their old menu was pretty popular, they have unleashed “phase two” of their new menu which features new flatbreads, appetizers, and salads. Choose from hilariously punny options like “Come Meat Zick”, the “Thai-Tanic”, and the “Ken & Barbie-Q.” People have been lining up all week just to get a taste of these new dishes. But don’t worry — if you’re stuck in your old ways, they still offer their trademark cheese as well as specialty pizza by the slice or as a whole pie.

To start off your meal, you’ll need to indulge in an order of “Pie Squared.” These ravioli bites are filled with mulitple cheeses, coated in breading, fried golden brown and topped with Parmesan. If that doesn’t make your mouth water, I don’t know what will. You can also try “Skinny Dipping” which is a blend of four cheeses (mozzarella, cheddar, boursin, and ricotta), served “hot and bubbly.” If you’re willing to go all in, order the Tater-Zone which is a calzone loaded with tater tots, chipotle sauce, and cheddar cheese.

One of the six new flatbreads is the “Puff Daddy”. This flatbread is topped with tater tots, bacon, mozzarella, cheddar, and drizzled with ranch. Wow, can you say heart attack on a flatbread?

Another new flatbread is the “Couch Tomato”, which is a take on a traditional caprese. This flatbread is topped with pesto, sun-dried tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese and basil. This is definitely a step up from a basic slice of cheese pizza.

Overall, students seem to be very happy with the new menu, with a few exceptions. Several students are outraged because curly fries and garlic knots have been removed from the menu. Are they gone forever?
And secondly, why can you get tater tots on your pizza, but not as a side order? We all know they would make a lot of money off of overpriced tater tots after midnight. Make sure to try out these awesome new flatbreads before phase three comes along!
