If you’re like most Northwestern students, you justify the exorbitant amount of money you spend at Norbucks with the fact that you need a latte (or just a coffee drink that actually tastes pleasant) every now and then. The dining hall coffee options just don’t always cut it.

Good news, all you dining hall coffee drinkers: You can be your own barista. Despite the lack of peppermint syrup and steamed milk, you can whip up some delicious coffee drinks with the supplies that have been under your nose the whole time.

CARAMEL MACCHIATO

Ingredients:

  • Coffee
  • Milk
  • Caramel syrup (find it at the ice cream bar)
  • Whipped cream

Directions:

  1. Fill the cup one-third with milk.
  2. Add caramel syrup to your liking.
  3. Fill almost the rest of the way to the top with coffee.
  4. Mix well.
  5. Spray plenty of whipped cream on top.
  6. Make a pretty caramel design over the whipped cream.

 

MOCHA

Ingredients:

  • Coffee
  • Milk
  • Chocolate syrup (find it at the ice cream bar)
  • Cocoa powder (find it next to the coffee)

Directions:

  1. Fill the cup halfway with coffee.
  2. Fill almost to the top with milk.
  3. Add a generous amount of chocolate syrup.
  4. Mix well.
  5. Sprinkle cocoa powder on top.

 

BIRTHDAY CAKE BREW

Ingredients:

  • Coffee
  • Birthday cake ice cream (I found this at Hinman that day. In the very likely chance you don’t find this flavor, vanilla would suffice.)
  • Caramel syrup
  • Whipped cream

Directions:

  1. Fill the cup a little less than halfway full with coffee.
  2. While the coffee is still hot add a small scoop of ice cream.
  3. Mix the drink to melt the ice cream and to break it up in to small chunks.
  4. Add caramel syrup to your liking.
  5. Fill almost to the top of the cup with hot coffee.
  6. Mix the drink again to melt the rest of the ice cream.
  7. Top with whipped cream.

 

HONEY CREAM LATTE

Ingredients:

  • Coffee
  • Milk
  • Honey (find it right next to the coffee)
  • Whipped cream

Directions:

  1. Fill the cup two-thirds full with coffee.
  2. Add four generous squirts of honey.
  3. Fill nearly to the top with milk.
  4. Mix well.
  5. Spray whipped cream on top.
  6. Make a honey lattice over the whipped cream.

 

MARSHMALLOW MOCHA

Ingredients:

  • Coffee
  • Marshmallow syrup (find it at the ice cream bar)
  • Chocolate syrup
  • Milk
  • Marshmallows (find them by the coffee)
  • Cocoa powder

Directions:

  1. Fill two-thirds of the cup with coffee.
  2. Squirt marshmallow syrup and chocolate syrup in equal amounts in the drink.
  3. Fill almost to the top with milk.
  4. Mix well.
  5. Add marshmallows on top of the drink.
  6. Sprinkle cocoa powder over the marshmallows.
