What happens when an app allows its users the promise of anonymity (save for location tracking) and 200 characters? A chaotic feed emerges consisting of the thoughts people would normally (and should always) keep to themselves. That’s exactly what Yik Yak is: a place to broadcast your fears, spiteful comments, intricate thoughts and weird secrets without fear of being discovered. More importantly, it’s another place for your thumb to exercise, mechanically scrolling while you waste your own time and your phone’s battery-power. Amidst the mental barf and inappropriate comments, you can sometimes find clarity (and humor) in the form of food references.
I present to you the top food-related (and therefore the only relevant) Yaks that I have stumbled upon, just to prove that our minds are almost always concerned with thoughts about food.
1. Cooking is hard. Sticking prepared food into the complex machine that is an oven and successfully setting the timer is basically impossible. At times like these, you turn to Yik Yak for advice/support/sympathy.
