Friday evening the Davenport Dive was filled with the sounds of my questionable DJ-ing and the aroma of delicious food from all over New Haven as Spoon University – Yale brought you our first event: our launch party! Attendees bought tickets and exchanged them for a bite of an old favorite or a newly discovered dish. Everyone who came left with a full stomach, a boy-band song stuck in their head and the knowledge of how great Spoon University will be for Yale. Thanks to everyone who joined us and a big thank you to all of the restaurants that provided us with food:
- Claire’s Corner Copia sent us hearty vegetarian chili and tortilla chips
- Pitaziki filled two tables with favorites including chicken shwarma, hummus, pitas and loads of toppings
- Yorkside Pizza and Restaurant let us pick between four temptingly topped pizzas
- Cedarhurst Cafe loaded us up with tuna salad bagels and kale chips that converted non-believers
- Katalina’s Bakery made sure our sweet tooth was satisfied with three flavors of cupcakes
- Y Pop-Up rounded out the menu with student made edamame falafel, spicy noodles and butterscotch pudding
