Every year, the first Friday in June marks a very important date: National Donut Day. This food holiday was created in 1938 by the Salvation Army in order to honor the people that served donuts to soldiers during World War I and popularized the donut in the United States.
This year, National Donut Day falls on this Friday, June 2nd. To celebrate National Donut Day, many donut shops are giving away donuts to all their customers. Here are some of the places you can get free donuts:
Krispy Kreme
Famous for their original glazed donut and in-store donut conveyor belt production, this company is offering each customer one free donut from the entire Krispy Kreme menu all day on June 2nd. No purchase necessary.
Dunkin’ Donuts
Each customer gets one free donut with the purchase of any beverage. As a bonus, Dunkin’ recently released two new flavors- Vanilla Cake Batter and Sprinkles- which are both available on National Donut Day. An iced coffee and a Sprinkles donut- what could be better?
Duck Donuts
At this East Coast chain best known for their vanilla cake donuts and customizable toppings, each customer can choose one free donut from the entire Duck Donuts menu with any purchase. Also, receipts printed on June 2nd will feature “Buy One Get One Free ½ Dozen” coupons redeemable Monday through Wednesday until August 31st.
Entenmann’s
While Entenmann’s is not giving away free donuts, they have partnered with Feeding America to award free donuts for an entire year to a few lucky winners. You can enter their sweepstakes on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, or through the entry form on their website.
Since there’s nothing better than the combination of fried dough and free food, make sure to head to one of the businesses listed above on Friday, June 2nd for some free donuts.
