It’s Saturday night and you’re a little too drunk for the mixer you’re at right now. All of a sudden, hunger kicks in. You’re fixation settles on a creamy, dreamy Cook Out milkshake and you won’t be satisfied until you get one. You drunkenly text one of your friends to come pick you up. They reply that they’ll be there in 15 minutes. Score. Next thing you know you’re 3/4 done with your Cook Out milkshake, wondering how you got there and why Cook Out always tastes so good so late at night.
Here are five off-menu Cook Out milkshakes you’ve never tried and have probably never heard of, since they are my own creations or inspirations from friends. Try them out or get creative yourself.
Peanut Butter and M&M
Creamy peanut butter is good, but there is something to be said for crunchy peanut butter. The chunks add texture and excitement to the familiar peanut spread. Try a Peanut Butter milkshake, but add M&M’s because they are the crunch (and the chocolate) that’s missing from the creamy milkshake.
Walnut Brownie
We all love the chocolaty taste of a gooey brownie, but toss in some walnuts and… magic. The creamy brownie milkshake is good on its own, but the crunch, yet again, of the savory walnuts adds flavor and texture. Voila. The perfect balance of salty and sweet.
Chocolate Banana Pudding
OK banana fans, listen up. Now you can have your banana pudding and take it to the next level. How do you take anything average and make it better? Chocolate. I have found when faced with most problems, the solution is almost always chocolate. It may sound weird, but sometimes banana-flavored things are a little too banana-y, if you know what I mean, so adding chocolate makes the two balance out.
Caramel Mocha
If you are a coffee or caramel fan, then you should definitely try the caramel mocha milkshake. It’s a great chocolate flavor with a little coffee kick, and if you add the caramel, it is like a Starbucks latte in your cup. But better. Try it. It may just become your new go-to.
Strawberry Oreo
This is my favorite milkshake by far. I get a lot of backlash about this combo, because I guess it sounds strange, but think about it: If you like chocolate covered strawberries, this is essentially the same thing. Order the strawberry milkshake, which is good on its own, but add Oreos and boom. You’ve got a creamy strawberry sweet with chunks of chocolaty cookies in your hands.
So next time you go to Cook Out, which will probably be this Friday night (let’s be honest), try out one of these off-menu items instead. Even if you don’t think any of these are for you, don’t limit yourself to the flavors on the menu. Add toppings or even some whipped cream to any of your milkshake creations and make it your own.
