#TGIT, or Thank God It’s Thursday, is the hashtag used on social media during the ABC drama trifecta that airs every Thursday night, including Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and How To Get Away With Murder.
While all three Shonda Rhimes’ produced shows are jaw-dropping, binge-worthy good, my personal favorite (and the newest to the mix) is How To Get Away With Murder. The ultimate question, of course, is what to munch on during this law and crime drama. Let’s break it down according to your favorite character on the show.
Professor Annalise Keating: Wine, Cheese, and Crackers
Crack open the bottle of red and pair it with cheese and crackers, because if that’s not an Annalise snack, I don’t know what is. Don’t panic, it can be the cheapest red wine and store-brand cheddar — it’s the thought that counts. After all, nothing says wanting to be a future courtroom boss than cheese and crackers.
Wes Gibbons: Half Baked
The main protagonist in the show (minus, ya know, the murder thing) has a sensitive side that has everyone rooting for him, but he still stands firm in what he believes in. Ben & Jerry’s is the OG snack that you can’t help but love, no matter the outcome. The flavor’s up to you, but Half Baked is the real MVP.
Connor Walsh: Trail Mix
Trail mix is sweet & salty with something for everyone, much like Connor’s character who has many different sides. He’s sassy, amusing, serious, and the best of all, has a sense of sarcasm that gives the intense show its fair share of LOL moments.
Michaela Pratt: Salted Caramel-Covered Pretzels
Michaela is the classy, level-headed one of the bunch, and if she’s your favorite than you need an equally sophisticated snack like salted caramel covered pretzels. What is more refined than caramel and pretzels? Be the go-getter adult you know you are.
Asher Millstone: Hot Wings
Stuck somewhere between his college glory days and adulthood, Asher always makes sure his voice is heard while cracking some inappropriate jokes along the way. The treat that brings out our inner wild-child is the classic app of hot wings. Nothing says “how to get away” from our responsibilities like a plate of flaming wings.
Laurel Castillo: Salt and Vinegar Chips
A fierce friend (who simultaneously wants to beat everyone out for prized student) makes the snack to choose one that you need in moderation, like salt & vinegar chips. Eat the whole bag at once, and you’ll be sick of them, but a few at a time and they remain your favorite munchie.
Frank Delfino: Japaleño Poppers
Equal parts suave and covert, if Frank is your guy then the snack of the hour is a jalapeño popper. You have to be careful with this choice so you don’t get burned, but sometimes you need to spice things up.
When #TGIT comes on, you don’t mess around. Having snacks prepared is essential so you’re not tempted to leave the couch and left wondering how your favorite character wound up missing and what happened to the guy in the bathtub. Nothing matches the hype of a good plot and a snack to munch on while watching.
