Pizza is cheap, filling, and delicious. It can be eaten wherever, whenever. People have been eating cheese and wine for years, so of course pizza and wine would make an even better combination. After some research on wine and playing with this awesome pizza and wine pairing app, I’ve come up with an extensive list on what type of wine to drink with your pizza. From Malbec to Chablis, you’re covered.

1. Cheese and Pinot Grigio

You can’t go wrong with a classic like cheese pizza. The classic flavors of mozzarella, tomato and basil pair perfectly with the light, crisp and refreshing flavors of Pinot Grigio.

2. Pepperoni and Syrah

The spicy and meaty flavors of the pepperoni pizza pair perfectly with a full bodied wine like Syrah. Syrah’s signature flavor profile of black pepper and currant matches up neatly with pepperoni.

Grenache is comprised of grapes of course, as well as berry fruit like raspberries and strawberries. This full-bodied red wine that is low in acidity pairs well with the salty flavors of olive pizza.

The Germans have been pairing Riesling with all kinds of meats so, of course the ham in Hawaiian pizza would pair greatly with it. Its gentle notes of peach and pear work perfectly with the Hawaiian’s pineapples and ham. Riesling’s acidity works as a palate cleanser. It’s also a sweet beverage so it takes the ham and pineapple experience to the next level.

Who would have thought it would become such a popular flavor? Barbecue chicken pizza is sweet and smoky so you need to drink something fruity to balance that.
