Waking up in the morning can be hard, especially after a long night out on the town or a late night in the library. An avid brunch fan, I am always on the lookout for new places to try. So naturally, when I overheard a group of Wake Forest students raving about a place called “The Famous Toastery,” I knew I had to try it for myself.
The moment I set foot in the restaurant, the mouth-watering smells of bacon and syrup overwhelmed me. My friends and I managed to wade through the crowd of patiently waiting guests and put our name on the list. After a 25 minute wait (as is to be expected on a Sunday morning), we sat down with our stomachs growling.
One of the defining aspects of The Toastery is its unique motto: “Every server is your server.” This concept is unorthodox to a first time guest, but the basic gist is that any and every server is at your disposal. During the course of the meal, one waiter will greet you, a different one may bring you a basket of homemade cornbread, and yet another will drop your check. (Important note about the cornbread: it comes with a side of apple sauce, and yes it is a brilliant combo.)

Want a big breakfast sammie? You can’t go wrong with this packed flour tortilla filled with egg whites, brie, avocado, tomatoes, and a dip of salsa with every bite.

For all the sweet-toothed foodies out there, look no further: a layer of raspberry, blueberry, peanut butter with banana, or strawberry cream cheese filling between those French bread slices. Top it off with all the syrup your heart desires.
Did I mention that The Famous Toastery has an entire lunch menu? If you have already indulged in breakfast, order one of the six burger options, chow down on a fresh salad, or grab a quick Club sandwich on wheat.
