In an ideal world, Saturday mornings in Winston would be spent frolicking through the Cobblestone Farmers Market and basking in the glow of fresh, bountiful produce. Instead we remain sleep deprived and hungover in our beds, struggling to see sunlight before noon.
Wake Forest senior Jake Teitelbaum solved this paradox with the launch of his company No Bad Apple. On a mission to “bridge the gap between you and what you eat,” they deliver locally-sourced produce directly to Wake’s campus every Thursday.
Here are 5 reasons that’ll have you trading up trips to Whole Foods for No Bad Apple in no time:
1. It’s so damn easy.
Gone are the days where you have to fight down angry moms at the grocery store for the last ripe avocado. Think of it like online shopping for clothes, but way better because it’s food.
All you have to do is order your food online by Wednesday night and pick it up at one of their two locations on Thursday afternoon. You’ll find them at Campus Kitchen and the law school courtyard, waiting on you with all your precious goods.
2. They deliver from The Porch.
No Bad Apple is making all of our delivery dreams come true: they’re bringing one of Winston-Salem’s most popular restaurants, The Porch, directly onto campus. This means burritos, salads, quesadillas and their famous guac without a long wait or reservation. How could you pass that up?
3. They support local farms and businesses.
Winston is #blessed to be surrounded by some prime farmland. Almost everything at No Bad Apple was sourced less than an hour away. Supporting the local economy while reducing your carbon footprint is never a bad move.
4. They remind us why we should be eating organic.
Artificial ingredients pretty much suck. As good as licking electric orange Cheeto dust off your fingers seems at the time, it will never really beat the beauty of real cheese. Keep it all natural with No Bad Apple, your body and the earth will be very thankful.
5. They make everything taste delish.
No matter what you order from No Bad Apple, it is guaranteed to be unbeatable. Maybe you’ll discover a dairy farm down the road with goat cheese like you’ve never tasted before, or perhaps you’ll snag the most plump darn apple of your life. The best part of your discovery will be that you’ll know exactly where it came from.
If you’re short on time to cook, they’ve got you covered with prepared food. Got mad cooking skills? You better believe you can get anything you need to make one heck of an impressive meal. Give up on Whole Foods and Trader Joes because No Bad Apple’s got it all covered.
