Why You Need the (Not)Recipes App to Up Your Kitchen Game

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Villanova chapter.

Let’s be real, we all love Instagram and following the top foodie influencers – but what about actually recreating those images to reality? Well, the new (Not)Recipes app from Food52 is your answer. It’s all about putting together your own signature dish from your kitchen, posting the results and also seeing what others have to share.

Simply snap a photo, use one of Food52’s handy filters inspired by chefs like Julia Child, and add a description. Voila, The app magically transforms those ingredients you mentioned into an editable grocery list for others! You’ll be impressing your friends with your delicious dinners in no time.

It’s called (Not)Recipes for a reason – it’s about your community of fellow cooks at home, with easy and comforting tips to make their own twist on a typical dish. Personally, it’s helped me a ton in cooking healthier for myself. The easy interface allows you to click on a hashtag, like #quinoa, and see inventive combos like pairing quinoa with seared chicken and bell peppers.

My great experience of using (Not)Recipes is especially relevant in helping me choose substitutes for my unhealthy (but favorite) recipes, and changing my routine up for the better. Now, you can try your own take on learning to cook, with everything from pancakes to masala chai, at your fingertips. Download it on iOS here.
