6 Mouthwatering Ways to Revamp Your S’more

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Villanova chapter.

The crackle of the dried wood. The warm glow of the embers as they dance away into the dark night. The smell of wood smoke that lingers on your skin and clothes for days on end. Ahh, no summer night is complete without a campfire.

And naturally, no campfire is complete without a gooey marshmallow and melting chocolate sandwiched between two perfectly golden graham crackers. The infamous s’more steals everyone’s hearts and clean clothes during the summer months.

Now, you certainly can’t go wrong with a classic s’more. But what if you’re just itching for some MORE? Take your s’more game to the next level with these twists on your favorite treat.

1. Switch up the chocolate.

Hershey’s milk chocolate bars are great and all but we can do better than that. Other tantalizing varieties such as cookies and cream and almond toffee exist that can be a total game changer. Better yet, change up the brand and slap on a square of Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate and Rasberry or Godiva Milk and Salted Caramel. Mouth-gasm am I right?

 2. Try it with a new candy.

Why stop at chocolate bars? York Peppermint Patty s’mores don’t sound half bad to me. And don’t even get me started on a Reese’s s’more.

 3. Spread some love on the graham crackers.

Spreads, sauces and dips, oh my. Those graham crackers make the perfect vehicle for any flavor you might want to add to your masterpiece. Peanut butter, cookie butter, Nutella, caramel, frosting, jam… I’m already drooling.

 4. Add other decadent toppings.

Why just stick to the standard fillings in s’mores? Go big and throw your favorite food into that marshmallow-y mess. You can’t possibly go wrong with a strawberry and banana s’more. Try a little bacon if you’re feeling particularly adventurous. Maybe add ice cream if you have a major sweet tooth.

Or try it all together? Actually, don’t do that, it would be gross.

 5. Stuff your marshmallows.

The best part of a s’more is when it oozes onto your hands, runs down your chin and drips all over your shirt. To ensure that this happens, stuff chocolate inside the marshmallow while you roast it. The chocolate will melt inside and when you take your first bite it will also melt your heart.

 6. Swap out the graham crackers.

Sorry graham crackers, we love you, but you’re just not our type. Ever heard of a s’moreo? Now that’s more like it. Whether your vehicle of choice be Oreos, chocolate chip cookies, pretzels, Teddy Grahams, waffles or even donuts, I promise your marshmallow-chocolate creation will feel right at home.

I bet you just can’t wait for campfire season.
