How to Make the New Pumpkin Pie Quest Bar Taste Like a Warm Cookie

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Vandy chapter.

Let me just preface this article by saying how obsessed I am with pumpkin. Pumpkin ice cream, pumpkin coffee, pumpkin cookies… I want it all.

Unfortunately, many of these pumpkin products are packed full of sugar and unwanted additives. As a health-conscious individual, I find myself with strong cravings during the month of October, cravings I opt to satisfy with Dunkin Donuts’ Pumpkin Keurig cups, pumpkin-flavored frozen yogurt and even the pumpkin pie enhancer in my usual Slim ‘N Trim Vanilla Smoothie King.

So, when I saw that Quest released a Pumpkin Pie flavored bar, I placed my online order without hesitation.

For my first taste of this bar, I cut one in half to have for a quick breakfast after my morning workout. I personally like to have just one half of a bar at a time because there is so much protein in it and I do not usually get super hungry in the morning.

It was not as chewy as other flavors I enjoy, such as Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Cinnamon Roll. The graham cracker was flaky and seemed a bit stale, just like the S’mores flavor. I felt disappointed, but at least it held me over for four or five hours until my lunch break. I was determined to give it another try, so I saved the other half.

#SpoonTip: If you do not want the full bar, stick the other half in the refrigerator to maintain freshness.

The next day, I took the other half of the bar, placed it on a small plate and popped it into the microwave for just 20 seconds. This was definitely the best move, as it was melt-in-my-mouth delicious and exactly what I wanted for a sweet and festive fall treat.

I definitely suggest microwaving chunks of these bars as a replacement for pumpkin cookies or pumpkin bread at any fall party. Your guests and your stomach definitely will not be disappointed.
