Nowadays, when people want to buy me gifts, they think of food. An early Christmas present from a friend just happened to be a Christmas mix dozen from my all time favorite cupcake shop, Georgetown Cupcake. I gathered up the some of the Valley Forge Spoonies and we tasted and reviewed all of them for you. (Yes, we ate a dozen cupcakes in one sitting.)
1. Chocolate Eggnog
Jenette, Blaine and I are not fans of eggnog, so we opted out of this first cupcake.
Nicole – The nutmeg makes it a little spicy, but I love the cream cheese frosting. I did want more flavor from cake.
Our rating: 3/5
2. Sticky Toffee Pudding
Jenette – I thought best part was the frosting.
Blaine – P good.
Cailin – I have experience with Georgetown Cupcakes, so I know their cakes with cores are a.m.a.z.i.n.g.
Nicole – LOVE CORE.
Our rating: 3/5
3. Snowball Coconut
Jenette – Opted out.
Blaine – nOPE.
Cailin – The flakes were way too much. They ended up all over the box.
Nicole – It’s a lot of coconut flavor in the icing, but the cake was good. It had a more subtle flavor and the perfect texture.
Our rating: 2/5
4. Gingerbread
Jenette – I loved fondant flavor, but the cake could be better.
Blaine – Opted out.
Cailin – The flavor was better than I was expecting. The gingerbread wasn’t too spicy and frosting balanced it perfectly.
Nicole – Amazing!
Our rating: 4.75/5
5. Chocolate Peppermint
Jenette – Not really into the dark chocolate, but it paired well with the peppermint. The cakes was dry.
Blaine – Oh my god. (Editor’s Note: Not really sure if this was good or bad.)
Cailin – The cake was super dense, but I liked it. The flavor was rich.
Nicole – It needed more peppermint, and I was not expecting the chocolate to be dark chocolate. The cake was too thick.
Our rating: 2.5/5
6. White Chocolate Peppermint
Nicole and I aren’t into white chocolate at all, so we oped out.
Jenette – This one was much lighter. I liked it better than its dark chocolate counter part.
Blaine – I would eat again.
Our rating: 4/5
7. Santa’s Chocolate Chip
Jenette – The icing was too dense; it would have been better with a fluffier icing.
Blaine – Too dense and too bitter.
Cailin – This would have been better with a plain vanilla cake.
Nicole – This flavor didn’t really fit in with the Christmas mix.
Our rating: 2.75/5
8. Holiday Lava Fudge
Jenette – Best one yet.
Blaine – This felt like a milkshake and loved blend of flavors not sure but I’d buy it.
Cailin – I LOVE CORE.
Nicole – Love it all.
Our rating: 4/5
9. Christmas Caramel
Jenette – This flavor was sweet and familiar. If I lived near a Georgetown Cupcake shop, this would be one of my staples.
Blaine – I liked it a lot but it was not my favorite.
Cailin – Too sweet.
Nicole – The caramel sauce hit the back of my throat and I choked.
Our rating: 2.4/5
10. Snowy Vanilla & Buttercream
Jenette – Basic.
Blaine – Right up my alley.
Cailin – Good take on the classic, Georgetown never disappoints.
Nicole – I like this light icing with the density of a simple flavored cake.
Our rating: 4/5
11. Rudolph Red Velvet
Jenette – I was pretty underwhelmed this.
Cailin – Nothing special about this.
Blaine – Looked better than it tasted.
Nicole – Opted out.
Our rating: 2.75/5
12. Christmas Butterscotch Cheesecake
Jenette – I l like everything about it, but I am so full.
Blaine – Good… I wish we hadn’t eaten it last.
Cailin – Their cheesecake cupcakes are the best. I love the bottom, it was a super buttery graham cracker crust.
Nicole – I love the cheesecake from here, but not the flavors of this one.
Our rating: 4.25/5
Should you try this?
Twelve cupcakes split four ways evens out to three a person, but we still felt the effects before we could get through the dozen. New Year’s cleanses started a little early for Spoon Valley Forge after this…
Georgetown Cupcake makes amazing cupcakes, so YES you should try them. Their ingredients are quality, which makes their flavors incredible. Their classics are good and their creative flavors are even better. These cakes were shipped overnight in an insulated box with ice packs and they somehow tasted bakery fresh. Georgetown Cupcakes never disappoints. Buy a dozen or two for your Christmas parties! These cupcakes are worth it. Unlike us, you should probably only eat one or two.
