All the Girl Scout Cookies You Didn’t Know Were Gluten-Free

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at UVM chapter.

It’s peak Girl Scout cookie season, but it can be tricky getting your hands on a box of the classic treats if you’re gluten-free. Luckily, the Girl Scouts have options for anyone who lives life sans gluten. There are two gluten free Girl Scout Cookies available this year, Toffee-Tastic and Trios. Both are offered in select Girl Scout markets as long as supplies last, so find out if your local council is selling these bad boys right here. Not only that, but you can buy them online, too.

Toffee-Tastic®

Toffee-Tastic cookies are made with rice flour to get the taste and texture you love without the gluten. They’re rich and buttery with bits of toffee in them. These are made by Little Brownie Bakers, so if your local Girl Scout council also has Samoas and Tagalongs, ask them about Toffee-Tastic.

Trios

Trios are made with certified gluten-free oats, which are also whole grain. They have peanut butter and chocolate chips in them, giving them great flavor and texture. These are made by ABC Bakers, so if your local Girl Scout council also has Caramel deLites and Peanut Butter Patties, ask them about Trios!

Other Options

If you’re gluten-free and want Girl Scout Cookies during the rest of the year, there are still options for you. This recipe for homemade gluten-free Tagalongs uses gluten-free flour in its shortbread, so you can make them any time in the comfort of your own home.

Craving the ever-popular Thin Mints? You can make these gluten-free too using this Thin Mint recipe. If you don’t feel like baking your own Thin Mints, there are also gluten-free versions available on online stores like iHerb and even in brick-and-mortar superstores like Walmart.

Millions of people live gluten-free, and with the release of Toffee-Tastic and Trios, no one has to miss out on Girl Scout cookie season because they’re unable to consume gluten.

I've made a name for myself as the maker of birthday cakes among my friends and people tell me I remind them of their respective moms because all I watch is Food Network, HGTV, and Criminal Minds.
