A common sight on Halloween is herds of children dressed up in fun costumes wandering from house to house with little buckets in pumpkin shapes and other fun containers searching for treats (and hoping not to get a trick instead). While some may consider vegan candy a trick, these sweet treats are not a joke! These treats aren’t just for kids, enjoy all of your favorite childhood candies with these vegan alternatives-and old ones you may not have realized are vegan!
Gummies/Soft Candies
Pictured above are Project 7‘s vegan gummy bears (regular and sour) along with their lollipops! The gummies are super good with natural flavors and the same texture as regular gummies but without the gelatin! Some other classic favorites you may recognize are Sour patch kids, dots, and sweedish fish. Twizzlers are also vegan! Though you may have to battle it out with friends about which flavor is better: strawberry, cherry, or black? (Personally I’m on team black, it’s also more appropriate for Halloween in my opinion).
Hard Candies
A lot of the sweets you may have found in your basket are already vegan! Skittles, Jolly Ranchers, Lemon Drops, Mints, Smarties and Sweet Tarts are all vegan already. Nerds also have zero animal products! Who knew?
Cookies and Carmels
Sadly most cookies and Carmel’s are made with milk, but thankfully there are many new vegan and dairy free options to satisfy all your cravings! Cocomels Coconut Milk Carmels are vegan and gluten free, Lenny and Larry’s protein cookies are vegan, and some of your favorite classics like Oreos and animal crackers have no animal products! (Ironically enough for the latter).
Granola/Protein Bars
Granola bars can certainly be considered desserts, and ONE’s plant based protein bars have plenty of dessert options like birthday cake, s’mores, chocolate peanut butter, and more! Fig Newtons are also vegan, same with LARABARS (peanut butter chocolate chip is my favorite), CLIFF Bars, and many other varieties.
Chocolates
As you probably know, a lot of chocolates are made with milk, but there are plenty of vegan alternatives out there! If you loved Herseys as a kid, try Enjoy Life’s rice milk chocolate squares! Craving Reeses? Eat Justins Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups or Unreal’s Peanut Butter Cups! Unreal also has Choclate candies that are really similar to M&M’s. Other great chocolate bars include Endangered Species Chocolates or Trader Joe’s 1lb+ Dark Chocolate Blocks!
Miscellaneous
Other fun halloween treats that are vegan include Pixi Stix, Fun Dip, ginger chews, and some varieties of popcorn like Skinny Pop or Boom Chicka Pop’s Kettle Corn! You can also get creative and make your own vegan halloween treats like dark chocolate truffles or more healthy alternatives like clementines with Jack-o-lantern faces!
