What You Should Be Doing Friday Night to Support Pancakes for Parkinson’s

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at UVA chapter.

As I’m sure you’re all aware, UVA’s most anticipated “sporting” event is nearly upon us: Foxfield. When I think Foxfield, I always find myself wondering: is there anything more quintessentially UVA? A mass populace of pastels sipping “lemonade” and crude cocktails, roaming a field to catch a glimpse of staggeringly illusive horses. Pure bliss.

Given that this is a sporting event, it’s essential that you, as an active participant, have all things readily prepared Friday evening for the early morning event: sundress, seersucker, sunscreen, ticket, and pregame carbo loading.

Lucky for you, Pancakes for Parkinson’s can help you out with that last one on your list. This Friday, five restaurants on the Corner will be donating a percentage of customer checks to the UVA Pancakes for Parkinson’s organization.

As a refresher, Pancakes for Parkinson’s is a philanthropic organization, officially partnered with the Michael J. Fox Foundation, that fundraises to combat Parkinson’s disease. P4P’s fall event is UVA’s largest fundraising event on Grounds and has raised over $346,000 over the past ten years for the Fox Foundation.

The fall event consists of a free pancake breakfast on the South Lawn with topping tables from other food-oriented organizations on Grounds. This upcoming fall, the event will take place Saturday, October 15th, 2016 during Homecoming weekend.

The restaurants featured Friday include Campus Cookies (today to Friday at midnight), Biltmore (5-9 pm), Christian’s Pizza (3-7 pm), FIG Bistro (4 pm to close) and Lemongrass (5-9:30 pm).

For Biltmore, Christian’s Pizza and Lemongrass, simply present a P4P Restaurant Night Voucher (shown above) and a percentage will be donated.

To donate at FIG Bistro, put your receipt in the P4P box at the end of your meal.

Last but not least, Campus Cookies is using the code “CClovesP4P,” and on top of donating you will also get 10% off your order.

What about Dessert?

Don’t miss out on making a difference for P4P before unapologetically enjoying your lemonade at Foxfield. Your body will thank you.
