As poor college students, saving every penny is crucial. But no one wants to actually forgo the good things that cost money. So what’s the best of both worlds? Discounts.
In light of Earth Day and being environmentally friendly, all UT students should no longer be kept in the dark about all the financial incentives for being eco-friendly. One such incentive is a UT initiative called the Mug Project that aims to reduce waste from one-time-use cups.
Think about how many times you’ve ordered a beverage this week and thrown the cup away. For most of us, it’s probably quite a bit. I can’t even imagine how many cups I’ve used during my three years at UT.
But now, there’s a way to reduce waste plus save a bunch of money in doing so. And it’s as simple as this.
Any reusable container (such as a mug) automatically earns all UT students a 15% discount on just about any place on campus, including but not limited to Starbucks, POD markets, Smokey’s, Rocky Top, Quiznos and Subway. Just remind the cashier when you order a drink.
If you normally spend $10 a week on campus for drinks, you will be saving on average $1.50 every week and well over $50 per school year. So go grab a mug and spread the word about these awesome savings.
