Why Everyone is Brunching at Better Byrd

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at USFSP chapter.

Better Byrd opened a few weeks ago and I’m pissed I didn’t try it sooner. This past weekend I visited to test out their brunch and all of my foodie senses were tingling.  100% steroid and hormone free chicken in different combinations. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, they also serve made to order donuts.

Better Byrd is attached to Fresh Kitchen which is also under the umbrella of the CRG (Ciccio Restaurant Group). What it lacks in parking spots, it makes up for in flavor combinations. Better Byrd offers indoor and outdoor (limited) seating. Once you order your meal at the front, you then grab a seat and wait to hear your name called from the register to pick up your tray of treats.  Pictured directly above is the CheeseChick ($5.5) – Buttermilk fried chicken, whipped goat cheese and pepper jelly on English muffin (also offered on a whole wheat wrap) with a side of sweet potato tots ($2). The top picture features the CheeseChick, the Eggcentric Bowl ($5), and the CFC ($6). Everything on the menu is below $10! Seriously heaven for a fried chicken loving foodie. Better Byrd also offers local coffee blends, fountain drinks made from real cane sugar, craft beer and MIMOSAS! You can find their entire menu here.

Mimosa Bar

What would brunch be without mimosas? Better Byrd’s mimosa system is pretty legit. Upon ordering, you purchase as many $2 mimosas that you think you’ll be needing to brush off that hangover or to begin your day drinking escapades. You then take the tickets that are given to you at the register to the mimosa cart at your leisure to get your refills. If you run out of tickets but aren’t ready to be cut off quite yet – there’s no need to jump back in line, you are able to pay with cash or card at the mimosa cart itself!

Better Byrd is located at 4447 4th St N #1, St. Petersburg, FL 33703

Hours: Mon-Fri 11AM-9PM, Sat 9AM-9PM and Sun 9AM-8PM.
