This event could not have come at a more perfect time. Just as I had finished up midterms, and haven’t had the time to make it to the gym in over a week due to that, I was really looking forward to having something to commit to because I needed to get my motivation back. That’s the big draw for me with classes like the ones offered by Corepower Yoga. They help you commit and show up for your workouts when you’ve been putting them off for long enough. This event was great especially because of the free snacks after, which tbh is the number one way to get me to show up to stuff.
I workout at the gym relatively frequently, and I’ve taken other fitness classes before, so I was looking forward to trying a new one, especially since the studio is so close to me in the USC Village. The class was led by Mara Lorin, who did an amazing job. She was motivating, upbeat, and helpful with everyone’s form if they needed some slight adjustments.
Truly, this class was very far from what I was expecting. For starters, in the studio it’s hot AF. If you go to Corepower, definitely come prepared with a big bottle of cold water. Also, unlike a typical yoga class, this one came with loud and upbeat music. Though untraditional, it really helped push me through some of the more intense parts of the class. I never thought I’d be doing burpees, chest press, hammer curls, rows, and squats in a yoga class, yet here I was having just finished all of those things in a room with temperature ranging from 85-95 degrees.
There was a distinct point midway through I thought I might slip and fall traumatically off my mat thanks to the newfound level of sweat I never knew was even possible for myself. I can confidently say though that I will be back to Corepower because at the end of the class we got to lay down and basically take a nap, and Mara even fanned us with a towel. Any fitness class that lets me just collapse when I’m done is 100% the class for me. Not to mention how amazing I felt after thanks to some good post-workout endorphins.
Let’s talk about snacks. After an intense workout, we got to refuel with some goodies provided by some great, healthy brands. We were able to take home a bottle of water with hemp extracts thanks to Hemp Hydrate, some mini MacroBars and a $1 off coupon from gomacro, a $2 off coupon from Califia Farms, a bag of popcorn from Lesser Evil, a BOGO free coupon and a Raw Rev Glo bar from Raw Rev, and lastly but certainly not least an Oats & Honey Simple Crunch bar from KIND.
The Lesser Evil popcorn was delicious and one of my favorites because I love any crunchy snack. Both the ingredients and flavor are phenomenal.
All the coupons we got was so great as well, especially the one from Califia Farms because that makes some of their products nearly half off.
Everything we tried was such a great grab and go option, and bonus points for all of them having such nourishing ingredients! They were all perfect for refueling after the sculpt class, or in my usual case eating while trying to make it to my next lecture on time.
The event was so much fun, and a great way to try out so many new things. Shoutout to Spoon USC and Corepower Yoga for making this event possible!
