Last year, I stumbled across what some could consider heaven on earth but humbly goes by the name of Piada. Since then I’ve been addicted. Think of an Italian styled Chipotle, but better in every way imaginable. From the create-your-own pasta bowl to the cannoli chips, this creative, innovative, and delicious restaurant fulfills all of your Italian cravings.
Inspired by the charm of the food carts and corner markets scattered along the streets of Rimini, Italy, owner Chris Doody made it his mission to bring fresh, modern, and high quality casual Italian food back to the US. Eight years after the doors opened at the first location in Ohio, Piada has definitely fulfilled Doody’s quest to bring authentic and exquisite Italian cuisine for all to enjoy.
What’s Cookin’?
My experience is nothing less than fabulous every time I step foot into my local Piada. Upon arriving, the modern yet homey atmosphere is picture perfect and aesthetic in every way. The helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable staff takes my visit to the next level. All in all, the smiles from the employees must be contagious because every time I take my first bite, I’m infected with joy.
I would say that Piada’s menu makes my mouth water just by looking at it, but that would be an understatement. Tossed pasta, hand-rolled piadas, fresh salads, street sides, and rotating seasonal items make this menu a bible of casual Italian cuisine.
#SpoonTip: Order online ahead for you or your crew to skip standing in line – there’s no time to wait when it comes to Piada.
My Favorites
Despite how astonishingly delicious the entire menu is, I seem to always end up ordering the pasta bowl. You begin by choosing between a small and regular. While the regular size can be a bit much if you’re not starving, the pasta already comes in a take-home bowl, so you’ll have a delectable delight for tomorrow.
Then, once you’ve selected a size, you can choose between Carbonara (parmesan alfredo), Basil Pesto (parmesan alfredo with some basil pesto), Diavolo (slightly spicy classic Pomodoro), or a create your own bowl (my personal favorite.)
The create your own pasta lets you add as much sauce and fresh toppings as you wish, which is why it’s my all-time favorite. From sundried tomatoes and mixed greens to cucumbers and pancetta, ask, and you shall receive. My typical order includes angel hair pasta, grilled chicken, basil pesto, parmesan alfredo sauce, feta, mozzarella, shredded parmesan, spinach, sundried tomatoes, chickpeas, arugula, pancetta, and sweet & spicy peppers. I know, a mouthful. But it’s worth every bite.

While this whole article has been a worship piece to all things Piada, like all things good in life, there is one bad thing. As of January 2018, the heavenly masterpiece that is Piada only has 42 locations in seven states across America. So if you live in Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, or Texas, you’re in luck. But if you happen to live in the other 43 states of America, don’t worry! This chain is growing fast, and before you know it, there will probably be a location near you in the future.
Until then, for all those #blessed and those not so fortunate yet, be sure to keep up to date with all things Piada (including cool deals and new menu items) on their Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and even their own blog.
If you have the chance to visit to Piada, be sure to check it out for the unparalleled experience, service, and cuisine that every food-loving person deserves.
