Ranking All Of The University Of Georgia Dining Halls

Updated Published
This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at UGA chapter.

The University of Georgia offers five dining halls on campus, each featuring a variety of different foods and cuisine. Whether you’re looking for a quick bite on the go, or a place to eat and study, UGA’s dining halls have something to offer for all students. But not all dining halls are created equal. When it comes to the food quality to the overall vibe, there’s a variety of different opinions when it comes to where the best spots to eat on campus are. In this article, I’m ranking all of UGA’s dining halls to help you decide where to grab your next bite on campus.

5. The Niche

At the bottom of the list is The Niche. The location is quite far from the main campus and the dining hall runs for limited hours. The food quality is amazing, as their pizzas, calzones, and sandwiches always come out fresh, but I simply can’t put it any higher than the other options simply because it isn’t the most convenient option for most students. Space capacity is also an issue here, as I always feel clustered with the lack of seating. I recommend The Niche if you’re up for the drive and have the time because the food is delicious, but if you’re on main campus you can get good dining hall food closer in proximity elsewhere.

4. Village Summit (Joe Frank)

The second to last spot on the list is Village Summit, otherwise known as Joe Frank. This dining hall is known for its proximity to the Ramsey Student Center and the dorms on east campus. The dining hall stands out for their impressive salad bar and it’s delicious dessert and smoothie section. In terms of other areas, the grill and philly stations stand out as favorites among students. Village Summit is a good dining hall, but it simply doesn’t compare to the top three as they all have more options in terms of cuisine.

3. Bolton

Personally, I’ve seen Bolton get a lot of hate from students but I think the dining hall is overhated. It’s conveniently located in the central part of campus, and undoubtedly has the most variety of options for students. Most cravings can be satisfied in Bolton, and I love how spacious the dining hall is. They recently redid the asian cuisine section of the dining hall, renaming it as ‘The Wok’ which I think was a good and necessary upgrade in terms of quality.

2. Oglethorpe

Olgethrope stands out as one of the best dining halls on campus by a longshot. They have amazing selections from freshly cooked ramen and pasta, to the very famous ‘Ohacienda.’ Oglethorpe will always be a top tier dining hall because of their commitment to high quality food. The options here always stand out and everytime I come to Olgethrope (“O-House”) I know my cravings can always be satisfied.

1. Snelling

In all honesty, the new soft serve ice cream machine had a strong influence on putting Snelling at #1.  The Snelling grill station is by far the most notable out of the other dining hall grills on campus, and the late-night eats stand out as an iconic dining hall tradition amongst students. The breakfast at midnight paired with music over speakers makes for such a fun atmosphere to eat. With all of the lively elements of the dining hall, many students can also be found studying. I think Snelling has the perfect atmosphere for college students and is very deserving of the #1 spot.
