We don’t have to actually smell food to be intrigued by it or taste the alcohol to get drunk from it. We can feel all of these sensations simply from watching great food moments in animated films. Check out this list of eight Disney animated films that have some absolutely mouthwatering food moments.
1. Alice in Wonderland
This film has a crazy tea party with dancing tea pots and tea cups, and most importantly, the Mad Hatter and the March Hare. They make drinking tea actually look fun, fun enough that I actually wanted to drink tea at a tea party after this. Besides the tea scene, Alice in Wonderland is full of animated food moments.
2. Lady and the Tramp
Lady and the Tramp has one of the most iconic food scenes in cinematic (food) history. The two dogs listen to their waiters sing “Bella Notte,” a famous Italian song, while sharing a plate of spaghetti and meatballs. While this scene is certainly meant to be romantic, it’s hard not to admire (and focus) on the beautiful pasta dish.
3. Sleeping Beauty
One of the three good fairies attempts to make a cake for Aurora’s birthday, but fails miserably. Thankfully, the two other fairies proceed to fix the cake with magic to turn it into a delicious masterpiece.
4. The Aristocats
The cats come across a goose named Uncle Waldo who just escaped a crazy chef trying to cook him. When he was almost cooked, Uncle Waldo was soaked in wine and got drunk from the wine he consumed, but we can’t say that directly in a Disney film, right?
5. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (both films)
In this first installment, we are introduced to Pooh’s obsession with honey. He eats buckets of it every day and even sings his “Honey Song.” There is then an entire scene in the second film that shows Pooh swimming in honey, and professing his love for this snack.
6. The Little Mermaid
This film’s final scene (spoiler alert) is Eric and Ariel’s wedding. At their wedding, Sebastian is chased by a chef with a knife reminiscent of an axe for the second time. We also can’t forget the previous dinner Eric and Ariel had where she famously brushed her hair with a fork (or a “dinglehopper”).
7. Beauty and the Beast
One gif just doesn’t do this scene justice. The musical number “Be Our Guest” in Beauty and the Beast is probably, if not definitely, the greatest food moment in any animated Disney film.
The musical number is literally all about the food they can offer Belle in the castle, and the plates, forks, spoons, and candles sing it to her. The second greatest food moment in this film is when Belle is politely eating her porridge, but Beast continues to eat his food, well, in a beastly manner.
8. A Goofy Movie
Troublemaker Bobby is obsessed with string cheese (aren’t we all?) and makes a “Leaning Tower of Cheese-A.” And who could forget when Goofy’s son spelled out “Hi Dad” in alphabet soup for his dad?
