Kerala may not be doing enough about waste management, but with the #FatTax, they’ll sure take care of waist management, tweeted a user @NumbYaar and there were thousand such tweets coming in as soon as the Kerela government announced the imposition of “Fat Tax”
Fat Tax, as told by the government will be imposed on junk food items like burger, pizza, cheese rolls, donuts etc which are sold in posh eateries. This means that now if you want to savour on these dishes, you’ll have to pay a tax of 14.5%. Industry estimates suggest there are 50-60 outlets of organised fast-food restaurant chains in Kerala, including global brands McDonald’s, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Domino’s Pizza and Subway which may have to suffer great loss in business due to this new tax.
As seen, not many were happy with this news and people started reacting to it on various social media platforms. We bring to you some of the most hilarious and the most thoughtful reactions seen over the internet:
1. The One That Talked About The Missing Logic
This girl has got a point, haven’t we all been living under the torture of finding more air and less chips in those packets? Oh the misery!
2. The One That Made Us All Laugh
This one sure made us go, whaaaaa?! Sounds legit though, because fat on the belly is infinitely more exasperating than fats contained in the burger.
3. The One That Talked About the Real Loss
We wouldn’t sugar-coat reality for you. Here’s the deal. Loss is a given. But whether the loss will be of the fat on the belly or of your money is a choice you make everytime you buy a pizza (or not).
4. The One That Raised the Most Eyebrows
Break up, patch up, party or just another day, Pizza was our favorite part of it and now after this tax, even getting pizza will be hard on our pockets. Sigh.
5. The One With the Filmy Reference
The only time we can’t thank God enough for making us live in Delhi and not Kerala, right? Wish our favorite food could also flee away from there.
6. The One Showing the Possible Future Ahead
We Indians, never forget subsidies. If something like fat tax can exist then the time in not far when we’ll be having salad subsidies as well, happy dieting days, will they be?
Fat Tax or no Fat Tax our love for food is eternal but how would you feel if your state imposed a fat tax on you and what are your thoughts on the fat tax? Do let us know.
